Clarksburg Ohio's Crabb departs the states to fight World War II from the air with the 12th Bomb Group!


Today in Ohio Military World War II history: Featuring Clarksburg Ohio soldiers, airmen, marines, and sailors:
March 26, 1942: Charles Crabb departs the U.S. for overseas duty as a B-25 Mitchell gunner, 9th Air Force, 12th Bomb Group. James Williams is participating in Desert Maneuvers in California and was recently promoted to PFC.

March 26, 1943: Thomas Pearce (pictured) receives a promotion to 1st Lieutenant prior to leaving overseas serving as a Navigator aboard a B-24 Liberator with the 487th Bomb Group.

March 26, 1945: Fred Nye enlists in the U.S. Navy. Robert Templin returns to the U.S. after serving 14 months in troop transport shipping, based in Puerto Rico.

March 26, 1946: Max McPherson is discharged from the United States Marine Corps.
